Our SICA-USA member survey is closed, but we are delighted by the response and will use this blog to report on specifics mentioned by respondents, report on the SICA board’s next steps and how we might use this information to shape SICA. A meeting at the National Gathering (in July, in New Mexico) is being planned to help set a course of sustainability for SICA and create a tenable vision that can last beyond the current board.

We heard from fiber artists, a chef, a teacher, a fashion and fine art practitioner, musicians, painters, writers, and a sketcher. Respondents said they practice performance art/opera, drawing, healing art of Qi Gong, armature guitar, spiritual counseling/healing, ballet/dance/voice and food/culinary.

Represented were artists who identify as, or practice: author, actor/writer, nurse, image maker/designer/writer, conceptual art/film/video/performance/writings, IT, theater, painting, ceramics, writing/music/producing, painting/sculpture/writing, violin, healing arts/massage/naturopathic medicine, a craftsman occasionally turning wooden bowls, classical music, silk painting/clothing design, life drawing and painting, poetry/writing/crafts, designing on silk for industry, dance/writer/multidisciplinary performer, textile art, art from the sea, design history, lampshade making/knitting/painting and designing patterns, opera singer, sculptor, painting and printmaking.

Other categories of culture listed included: ceramics/architecture, songwriter, photography, abstract expressionist, writer for Subud members/ Storyteller (sometimes) for brothers/sisters, fiber arts/clay/metal works, design & invention, photography, rusty guitar, videography, intuitive painting, storytelling, cooking and house repair, photography, design and color consulting, mixed media, Indian classical music, collage and multimedia, producing shows, graphic design and other pursuits.

In the coming weeks, we’ll post links to the websites of Subud members who responded to Question Six:

If you responded with your url and DO NOT want it posted, please let us know and we’ll respect your wishes. No responses or correspondence is published without the permission of the author. If you want to help create SICA content, please contact us here and we’ll talk to you about how you can help.

As soon as the SICA-USA visioning meeting is set, we’ll post that on this blog, with gratitude for the passion for culture among Subud members and for the interest in helping make SICA more vibrant.
