Subud in the World

I was delighted to hear about the book A Spiritual Blueprint for Humanity by longtime Subud member Rozak Tatebe and devoured it. Written by the former International Helper, MSF Trustee and Chair of the International Subud Committee (as it says on the back cover), the book is published by Balboa Press, a division of the legendary Hay House, created by Louise Hay whose work on the energetics of disease has been tremendously helpful to me.

Tatebe gives us a look at the evolution of science over the centuries, but also its limitations and the issues that have been debated since science in a sense, replaced religion. He rightfully calls out the limits of scientific materialism and the need for a “grand design or blueprint” as well as the need to create “spiritual bodies,” writing that we are not born with such bodies, but have the opportunity to create them with “right living.” Ultimately he states that the fatal flaw of science is “the decision to dismiss any phenomena that could not be scientifically observed and quantified.” The way he ties in Subud material is artful and one can see how he became an International Helper, as he has wisdom and the ability to communicate it well (even via translation) and with a deep understanding of Subud and how the Latihan works in one’s life.

A student of my poetry workshops attended a Zoomuse reading and was inspired by the harmony and sense of community among those gathered that she was opened on May 2, 2021, at the Amani Center in Washington, D.C! There are few events so fulfilling as to see someone join the Brother and Sisterhood of Subud via being exposed to the art of Subud members. I recommended the Tatebe book to her along with a Reporter in Subud by Varindra Vittachi.

My hope is that SICA-USA will be creating significantly more events that expose the world to the beauty of our community and spiritual practice. Won’t you consider supporting our first ever fund drive to make it easier for us to do this work? Thanks for considering:
