Here is a piece lovingly sent to us by Mahomed Raidhan and kindly forwarded by Harlan Moore, Ruslan’s son. I always found Ruslan inspiring and humbling. Ruslan edited numerous books. Here is a link:

Memorial for Ruslan Moore
by Mahomed Raidhan
I first came into contact with Ruslan Moore many years ago as a result of reading the works printed by the publishing house he founded: Al Baz Publishing, Inc. After a brief email exchange in 2007, and having received an assurance regarding prayers that I’d requested, I basically failed to remain in touch.
In mid 2009 I remember waking up one day, feeling an aimless need to access an email address I used in the past. Following a brief interaction about that particular email associated with my cousin, I managed to log into the inbox and began to browse it. As I went through all the junk mail present, I came across the exchanges I had with Ruslan in 2007.
At this point, I felt a sense of shame; a feeling of ‘how could you stop communicating after getting what you wanted?’ kind of thing. And so I sent an email in mid 2009 apologising for the extended silence and my selfishness.
Soon we were exchanging emails regularly. Just over a month after reconnecting, he asked me whether I would be interested in continuing with the publishing house after his death. This was a huge honor for me and I accepted his offer. Email communication proceeded to regular skype calls in which he kept telling me about “something” he wanted to talk about. He said it was best to discuss this in person.
I was intrigued by this and was fascinated by who Ruslan was. I felt this tremendous feeling of calm when I talked to him and began to develop a love for him that I cannot really explain. He just seemed to say what was fitting.
So in early 2010, I traveled to see him. As a young man from Malawi, south east Africa, I set out on an 11 day visit to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I have this very vivid memory of him coming out the door to welcome me into his home. Immediately that night he introduced me to Subud providing the most eloquent and fitting explanations.
This was the beginning of the Subud group in Malawi for which he was clearly chosen by Almighty God as a channel. I witnessed him serving people by always attempting to walk in Bapak’s footsteps. He put the latihan really and truly into practice. For me, he embodied what Bapak said about being a real helper; he was able to be a channel for God’s power to touch people in an extraordinary way. I saw skeptics of Subud asking to be opened after conversing with him on multiple occasions. I witnessed in him the reality of Bapak’s words, “Subud is you”.
I feel fortunate to have known him very closely and to have spent so much time with him in the last 15 or so years. I saw his ordinary side as well as his “special” one. He always stressed the importance of being ordinary and to not make an attempt to seem righteous or highly spiritual.
He was the man who had the singular most impact on my life. When I was opened in 2010, my life changed forever and I am indeed indebted to Ruslan Moore for this.
If I were to describe his personality in one word, I would say it was magnetic. For him every being mattered regardless of who they were. Unselfish, calm, collected and unflustered, it was as if he alternated roles depending on what was required; a father, a brother and a true friend.
I do miss him greatly. Towards the end of his life he just “wanted to go”, and so I am happy that his illness at the end was brief.
May Almighty God receive him honorably in the next world and have mercy on his soul, Amen
How fitting a tribute dear Brother Mohammad. I am so happy that Ruslan and you came together. Perhaps the wisdom of spreading Subud so naturally can be shared in the future as part of Ruslan’s legacy? No doubt Ruslan was so successful in that regard. Thank you so very much for your heartfelt generosity in sharing!! God Bless.
We were both opened in Manchester within weeks of each other.
Lovely man
GOD BE WITH HIM
I seem to have accidentally lost my long comment. Maybe it is still available. I just wanted to thank all who replied and were part of this tribute, Wacksmann, Flynn and of course Mohamad, from Malawi.
I met Ruslan in Austin, when he was still Richard and part of the late 70’s and 1980’s transformations. Truly wonderful and amazing.
He really helped start the Subud groups here in Ukraine, with conversation, Kreteks and cash.
I laugh. Good day to all.
A beautiful remembrance, Muhammad. Having spent quality time with 1 of your your younger Malawaian Subud brothers, Waseem, in Palangkaraya, I’ve been given a sense of how beautiful it is that Subud, via brother Ruslan, is flowering in Malawi.
Ruslan introduced Muhammad Raidhan & I at Frieburg World Congress and, what followed — thru Muhammad’s creative initiative and Ruslan’s sustaining support — was birth of a new Subud enterprise.
Ruslan was a good friend who helped me with african projects in Subud.
He will be missed
Thank you, brother, for your eulogy of Ruslan Moore.
With best wishes for 2025,
Cordially,

Dear Ruslan, May your onward journey be blessed and your memory be a blessing. Thank you for the many times we did Latihan and tested together. Several times testing with you changed my life! Your questions were always astute on a spiritual level. And often I would have questions but after simply doing Latihan together and speaking there would be no need for questions. All had been resolved. I miss you, bro. Thank you, Ruslan.
Beautifully written, he will always be loved! God bless him. Thank you for this🙏✨
A gift to have known him. Both my wife, Leonore, and I will miss him and keep him in our prayers. May he always be guided in his journey.
Thank you Mohamad for writing this beautiful account of our brother Ruslan. I too knew him mostly in Austin and remember him with happiness and love.
May his journey be blessed by Almighty God!
