About Darlene Olds
Lewis and I moved to Portland in 1992. I no longer had a job and Lewis asked me what I wanted to do. “Ceramics”! I’ve always wanted to make pots, and so began my life’s quest. I started classes at the Multnomah Art Center and within a year was invited to become their studio tech. I was in heaven! Not only did I have a fully equipped studio 24/7 but they payed me to be there. I worked at the Center for the next 8 years until we moved to Seattle.
While in Seattle I got a job as tech for BAM (Bellview Art Museum) but soon applied for a position at the Kirkland Art Center where I spent the next 10 years as a Resident Artist. It was a great time! I worked, I taught , I fired kilns for both myself and the school until we moved to Tucson where we live now. Lewis, the wonderful man he is, built me my now present studio from the large shed attached to our home, where I now work.
I’ve had to make some changes to my work, I no longer do gas firing but do electric oxidation. It’s been a bit of a trial but I’m learning as I hope I shall always do. Ceramics is my world, ever changing ever learning, a love that knows no end.
A beautiful feeling for form. Proportionally perfect. Decoration totally appropriate. Nice pots. Good pots.
Blessings for your work, Darlene.

I love every piece I have of your work. Do you sell online?
Darlene, so glad that I saw this. Now I am reminded of some pleasant times with you in the past. I have one of your creations that now resides with one of my children and her family. I like your new style, as well. Love to you and Lewis. Abraham
So good to hear about you and see your latest work. Wonderful!
Darlene Martin and I have received
much pleasure using your various bowls since the Albuquerque Congress long ago. How delightful to see you continuing with your art and craft.
