Connecting is the Thing (Lauren Woodward Stanley)

When we think of what makes life worth living, what makes life itself, we think of connection. We were all asked to suspend connection during our year (and counting) of pandemic, in the forms so familiar to us. Social gathering was replaced the world over by staying put, finding existence in physical space that didn’t share air space with fellow humans.

Being humans, however, we find ways to connect, even as as we were pushed to find a hermetic kind of beauty in solitude and “staying put”. SICA-USA, in 2020, saw a particularly ripe opportunity to keep connecting with each other, reaching into many living rooms to offer perspectives, share expressions, and join spirits.

Now, SICA-USA board members are hard at work continuing to nurture this tree, cultivate this shared culture with all of you. The tree arises from its roots, and its roots are you. The canopy is you, too. We all make this thing grow, and we, as SICA board members, are the busy little critters gathering and channeling resources from soil to root to leaf.

Help us gather our collective resources and grow our forest, keep the connecting happening – now, through virtual programming with the blog posts and diverse contributions you see on a regular basis (https://sica-usa.org/). And soon, as the pandemic loosens its grip, through programming that celebrates being with each other in the real space-time continuum, in big halls, dining rooms, corridors, and spontaneous interactions. Imagine how good it will feel for us to stretch our wings together, bump elbow to elbow again. In the meantime, we are honing all the tools that keep us human and connecting.

So we ask you to help us build, now and for that future! Consider supporting SICA-USA at $100 / year, or via $8 a month in recurring contributions. Support us and we’ll support you!
