Spring Gathering Art Exhibition

Sheraton Portland Airport Hotel

You are invited to show your work in the National Spring Gathering Art Exhibition to be installed at the Sheraton Portland Airport Hotel during the June 27th – July 1st, 2024, event.

The exhibition is being co-sponsored by Subud USA and SICA-USA and is being arranged by SICA-USA in support of its mission to support and promote Subud artists.

SICA-USA is calling for physical works of art which may include photography, painting, graphic prints, (digital and traditional), reproductions (giclée), sculpture, ceramics, and wood works.

With the help of the national committee SICA-USA will be arranging for display easels and pedestals to display works of art not to exceed 30” x 30” in the case of graphic works or a 14” x 14” x14” in the case of sculpture, wood, and ceramic works. Arrangements for digital display of video works will be the responsibility of the artist as the organizers cannot supply computers or monitors.

SICA-USA will provide uniform, 4’ x 6” display tags generated from the submission form for each piece submitted. Please limit to two pieces. Artwork will be accepted on a first come, first served, basis. The exhibition will not be juried (all submissions that meet the criteria will be accepted). Works may be placed for sale but neither SICA-USA nor Subud USA will handle sales or collections. Donations to SICA-USA are always welcome and appreciated.

The exhibition will be distributed format at locations around the venue gathering rooms and not in a single gallery space. There are plans for both a gift shop and silent auction in the hotel so there will be plenty of opportunity to support your Subud Brothers and Sister’s creative endeavors.

To plan effectively SICA-USA needs to receive your signed submission forms by 12:00 – midnight, May 31st, 2024. We hope you will understand that neither Subud USA nor SICA-USA can be responsible for the security of your work so you may want to have a plan to remove it at night and return it in the morning for daytime showing.

If you have any questions regarding the exhibition or wish to help with the exhibition arrangements please call or email Lawrence Pevec, SICA-USA Board chairperson at 303-501-7700 lfpevec@gmail.com for further information.

  1. Hey Lawrence, really like that piece. Must be the wood you incorporated that gets my attention. I’ve been trying to think of ways to use up all the project wood I’ve accumulated over my years in construction. I was thinking of some of the works by Louise Nevelson, static but beautiful at the same time. Then at the other end of the spectrum there was Wharton Esherick, way over the top but still down to earth. I need to find something in between. That piece of yours really does it. Best regards, Joseph
