An amazing exhibit by Farrah Karapetian is open until October 23, 2022 at the Wende Museum in Culver City, California. What was once a 20 square foot aluminum guard house in East Berlin, has been transformed into an art installation call Light Guard House at the Wende Museum in Culver City, California. Farrah Karapetian is an artist based in California who “believes in the agency of individuals in the face of forces beyond their control, and her methods incorporate sculptural and performative means of achieving imagery. She refigures the medium of photography around bodily experience. Her work is in public collections that include the J. Paul Getty Museum, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego, and the Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco. Here is our interview conducted August 11, 2022:

  1. Once went after the 9-11 event to Canada without a passport to visit a subud member in a nursing home. Was welcomed by the Canadian side with open arms. The day was quite beautiful actually. Returning bAck into the USA there was intense dismay, even anger that I done something so normal . The poor people. Their was an insinuation they might not let me return. The training received by them must have been hard on their humanity. I have had work like that too. But I felt very good about going.
