New Subud International Cultural Organization gets rolling.
Lawrence Pevec
SICA-USA representative to SICA
The former SICA administration was appointed in 2018 at the Freiberg World Congress and managed the organization for the extended six-year term. At the Kalimantan World Congress, held this year, a new administrative chair was tested into the position and a new board of directors has been established.
Hannah graduated with honors in Arts & Letters from Portland State University in 1978. She embarked on a diverse career beginning as the International Sales Director for a Subud enterprise – Bima Industries in Seattle, Washington. For two years she served as Secretary and Office Manager for the International Subud Committee (ISC) in Sydney, Australia.
Hannah relocated to Jakarta and worked as a freelance English teacher and, at the same time, began assembling a theatrical set design portfolio generated from her volunteer work for the Jakarta Players theatre group. She later became a Set Designer for stage and television productions in San Francisco, where she gained NABET Union accreditation.
In 1990, she returned to Jakarta to establish a Subud enterprise specializing in television and motion picture set design before turning her focus to commercial interior design. She ran a successful design business until 1997.
In addition to her professional work, Hannah has been deeply involved in the Subud Association since 1975. She became a helper in 1973 and then served as Secretary and National Helper Secretary for Subud USA and as Executive Secretary for the International Subud Committee (ISC) in Sydney. Since 2004, she has been a Director at Yayasan Usaha Mulia in Indonesia and, later a Director at the Borneo Football International Foundation. Since 2019, she has been a director for Yayasan Subud, located in Jakarta. She also served as a Trustee of the Muhammad Subuh Foundation. In 2024 Hannah completed a six-year term as WSA treasurer.

The SICA organization is registered as a 501(C)3 non-profit charitable corporation in Virginia and is currently looking for a mailing address which can be located anywhere in the US. The by-laws of the corporation state that voting members must be legally registered organizations in their respective countries which means currently that only Australia, Canada and the US can vote on SICA issues. Other countries can be listed as associate members who can participate but not vote on corporation matters. Part of the current administration’s efforts will be to amend the bylaws so more countries can participate in decision making. This and other important issues including restructuring and rebranding the organization will be discussed prior to the SICA Annual General Meeting, January 5, 2025.
As your SICA-USA representative to the international SICA organization, I’m looking forward to updating readers of this blog with developments of our progress. Please feel free to add your suggestions and comments below.
Cheers,
Lawrence Pevec

Excellent
It is the first time since I was opened in Subud (1968) that I see signs of the possibility of the growth of Subud. There has always been a trickle of new members worldwide as a result of those powerful talks and published writings given by Bapak, the founder of Subud, during his lifetime as well as those talks published currently by his daughter, Ibu Rahayu. Looking at this new team, I get the feeling that Subud has matured enough to have a full working structure worldwide which can sustain growth and viability in today’s world.
as well as those given by his daughter, Ibu Rahayu. Is there anything more to add? Yes. Strangely, although the practitioners of Subud appear to be faithful to the practice of the Latihan Exercise, it seems the practice does not spread easily. …appears to make it difficult to share the process of the reality of the Subud experience with the non-Subud world.which is why we need to yyessful in the work it is taking on, then perhaps the long awaited expansion of the growth of Subud will really begin.
the answer there is for the practitioners of the Subud Latihan acquire the ability to inspire those they meet in their daily live
