We are thrilled to invite you to a momentous occasion – the dedication ceremony of the Damon Hyldreth Sculpture at the Main Amani Hall and Lounge. Whether you join us in person or via Zoom, we promise an afternoon filled with warmth, appreciation, and the beauty of art.

Presentation:

The highlight of the event will undoubtedly be the unveiling of the Damon Hyldreth Sculpture, a masterpiece that will soon grace the grounds outside our cherished Amani Center.

Ceremony Agenda:

1. Opening Welcome

  • Matthew Clark, our esteemed Host, will extend a warm welcome to all attendees, both in person and online. We’ll begin with a moment of quiet reflection, followed by heartfelt gratitude for everyone’s presence.
    Introductions: We’ll have the honor of welcoming Damon Hyldreth, the Alkaitis family, local leaders, neighbors, tenants, and members of the Subud community. We’ll also extend greetings to our online participants, bridging distances with the spirit of camaraderie.

2. Greetings from Subud Leaders

  • Philip Lindstrom, Chair of Subud USA, and Shoshanah Margolin, Chair of Subud DC, will share their perspectives, underscoring the significance of this occasion within the Subud community and beyond.

3. The Amani Backstory

  • For our non-Subud guests, we’ll provide a brief overview of Subud’s rich heritage and the intertwined history of the Amani Center and Twin Oaks, offering glimpses into the tapestry of our shared journey.

4. Damanhuri Appreciation

  • In honor of the legacy of Damanhuri Alkaitis, we’ll hear heartfelt tributes from those who knew him best, including Rohana Alkaitis and others who carry his memory forward with love and reverence.

5. Subud and the Arts/About the Sculpture

  • Lawrence Pevec, Chair of Subud International Cultural Association (SICA), and Damon Hyldreth himself will enlighten us about the profound intersection of Subud and the arts, shedding light on the creative process behind the sculpture that stands as a testament to this fusion.

6. Statue Dedication

  • With great anticipation, Lucas Boladian will unveil the sculpture, a symbolic moment marking its official dedication. Local leaders will share a few words, followed by a blessing and prayer led by Myriam and Barbara Thomas, infusing the occasion with blessings and good wishes.

7. Closing with Thanks

  • As we draw the ceremony to a close, we’ll express heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to making this event a reality, embodying the spirit of community and collaboration.

Reception and Refreshments in Lounge:
Following the ceremony, we invite you to join us in the Lounge for a reception, where you can mingle, share stories, and enjoy refreshments as we celebrate this momentous milestone together.
