From Daniel Stralberg:

Halstein Stralberg
1939 – 2022
Pappa may your soul be free and find its way to its true home.
You were my father, and also my Subud Brother, Guide, and Mentor. I owe so much of what I am to you.
You were 100% dedicated to Subud for 64+ years, and were universally loved and respected by Subud members around the world.
You did the work that was in front of you without complaints, was always generous with your time, and was always honest and fair.
I was often a little too serious and you knew exactly how to lighten me up when I needed it most with your wonderful laugh.
A life well lived.
I will miss you.

  1. Oh Daniel,
Thank you for your tribute to your wonderful father. During our delightful conversations to and from the Seattle Latihan (before I moved to Portland in 2018) I got to experience his open heart and vast intellect. His knowledge of Subud history, especially of little known accounts and phenomena, was the deepest of anyone I’ve known in my decades in Subud. I am grateful to have known this dear man whose presence made life clearer, richer and brighter.

  2. Dearest Daniel, thank you for your rich and loving tribute to your dad. You are so right—we all love him and look forward to seeing him when our time comes. He leaves an empty space in our hearts. I am so fortunate to have gotten to spend some precious time with him.

  12. Hello Daniel, Often when Leonore and I recall fond memories of our brothers and sisters Halstein’s smiling face and gracious manner is first to appear. A true example to us all. Blessings would just pour from his presence. Such a blessing that we all have the Latihan that he so completely put into practice. Blessings to you and your family, Joseph and Leonore
